Purpose of This Site
Plan Miyako Islands itineraries, transport, stays and activities, find ferry schedules, fares and booking information for five islands served from Tomari Port, and choose a tour to Minna Island in Motobu. We organize official information and field research to help readers choose destinations, trip length and transport.
Coverage
The Miyako Islands section has six pages: a regional introduction, Miyakojima overview, itineraries, transport, hotels and activities. Travel planning starts from Miyako Airport or Shimojishima Airport and is presented separately from ferry routes departing Tomari Port. For the five islands served from Tomari Port—Tokashiki, Zamami, Aka, Kume and Tonaki—we cover ferry schedules, fares, booking, port access and island facilities. For Minna Island in Motobu, northern Okinawa, we explain the differences between tour options, meeting points at Toguchi Port and what to check before booking. Our Ishigaki overview covers five options for sea activities, nighttime nature watching and exploring Taketomi Island, areas to stay, airport and island transport, a two-night itinerary, and day trips to Taketomi and Iriomote. We do not publish Yaeyama ferry timetables or fare tables, or individual guides to its other islands. The Ie Island route from Motobu Port and village ferries between the Kerama Islands are outside our coverage.

Schedules, fares, booking methods, and port information for each island are compiled from the official announcements of the ferry operators and the relevant local governments and municipal public enterprise divisions, organized to highlight what travelers need. Update Policy
Information is reviewed regularly, and updates are applied when fare revisions, major schedule changes, or significant operating alerts (reduced service, dry-dock periods, etc.) are announced. Schedules and operating status can change daily due to weather, vessel maintenance, and peak-season additions. Please always confirm the latest information on each ferry operator's official website and phone counter before boarding.
First-hand Visits & Editorial Setup
This site is operated and edited individually by Yakanbi. All five islands covered (Zamami, Tokashiki, Aka, Kume, and Tonaki) have been personally visited by the operator. Each article is based on first-hand experience of boarding ferries, accessing ports, and traveling within the island — not only on information compiled from official sources. We aim to surface practical observations and the small details that first-time visitors often miss. As an individually operated site, we cannot track every change in real time, but each island page displays a "Last verified" date at the bottom so readers can see when the information was most recently cross-checked.
